Battery flat and won't jump start

  Renault Clio 1.2 16V
Right so the battery on my 51 clio is completely flat. Not even enough power to flip the screen for my head unit up and barely lights the dashboard. When I connect the jump leads the power is completely cut off from my car. All the lights that were on, go off so absolutely to electricity is getting to my car therefor I can't jump start it. It's stuck at the bottom of my hill, with the passenger window down and can't get it to central lock.

Anyone help?
Many thanks,
~David

Connect the jump leads and start the other car and leave it for a few minutes just ticking over, then try yours. Make sure all electrical stuff that you don't need is turned off. I found with mine that my rubbish little jump leads wouldn't work, then I connect a much bigger / thicker wire set and it start 1st time.

Other car was left running for a good 10mins, and I was using heavy duty jump leads. Completely at a loss as to why mine won't start!

Sounds like its not making a good connection on the battery , they have to be just right and it's a bit of a pain at times. I suppose an idea is to connect it up and then get a multimeter on your battery to confirm the voltage

If its not making a good connection, attach the earth jump lead to some bare metal on the car. If this works, then you have a bad earth cable between battery and car.
