Battery Gone at 4.5 years... Normal?

Car  Cup 172
Hi,
I think the battery on the Cup has seen better days. Is that normal at 4.5 years?
Want to be sure before splashing out 50 notes on a new one

thanks,
Phil.

nothing down to the car rly, its how its used etc, mine went at 4.5yrs.

u checked all the water in the cells etc?

Mine was on it's way out last month 3.5 years old!

The trip computer kept resetting it's self, when left for a couple of days.

Buy a bettery hydrometer and check the condition of it, you can get them for 3 quid or so.

It will be the battery, I cant see much point in checking it, surely its pretty obvious. Struggling to start on cold mornings etc.

Having said that if I had have checked I maybe wouldnt have got stuck at Scotch corner with a flat battery :(
Went at 4.5 years same as yours.

The point is sweetheart is that there is 100 things that can cause the battery to drain

surely at 5 years any power related problems its obvious that the battery is on the way out.

On my Cup i had a short to earth, from the wiring from the dash to alternator, i to would of just bought a new battery, if i hadnt tested it with a hydrometer first

The trip computer re-sets after a couple of days and has done for a few months. Plus for the last three mornings its started okay, but with less urgency than before... It turns but kind of whimpers into life...
