Battery Light

I've a Mk1 16v and the battery light keeps flickering on and off when driving. sometimes it's dim other times really bright.

This morning it flickered (only staying on for 1 sec max) the whole time i was driving but not when idleing??

I think there is also an earth problem as i'm getting feed back, i had the alternator checked a month or so and that was fine???

I'm lost as to what it could be.

slipping alternator belt would be my guess

I've just put a new one on and checked the tension?

check the alternator wires,

also get the voltage checked out to what its producing

yup, a good output is 14v or more, i get about 14.4v on mine
