battery light

hi when i turn the key to the first click so all the lights come on the battery light dosnt but it flashes when the car is running and so does the stop light. im guessing the flashing lights are a dodgy alternator or battery but would that stop the battery light coming on when i start the car also it smelt like burning plastic the other day dont know if thats related

If you've got a volt meter, start the car and put the volt meter on the battery, if the alternator is working then it should show 13-14 volts

going to try and get one tomorrow . its the dash light not coming on when I turn the key thats annoying me

Have a look down next to the alternator and see if there's any loose wires around it.

Also check to see if there's a thin orange wire plugged into the side of the alternator

had a look no loose wires only 2 wires goto alternator a red one that bolts on and a grey wire thats a push connector but looks like a green wire should be in connector aswell

If it's the same as a 1.2 then there should only be the big red wire and and a thin one off the alternator, follow the thin wire and check for breaks in it

Are you getting a flat battery after driving it?
