Battery off for a week, key fob now doesn't work?

One problem after another with my 172 lately, by far the most unreliable and temperamental car I've ever had the displeasure of owning, and this is the standard one!

so after my recent alternator failure which drained the battery I had it off the car and on bench charge all week. Refitted today along with replacement alternator and car starts and runs as should. Key fob doesn't work central locking and every time I open the door the indicators flash and the red light near the gearstick goes solid.

central locking works on button inside the car so I know that's okay, red light on fob works when pressed and had a new battery for safe measures. Key hasn't been dropped or damaged in the week so I know its something to do with the battery being off.

tried the sync procedure over and over for an hour and doesn't do anything, everytime I drive the car indicators flash, on a seperate relay to the flasher unit.


advice on how to fix it or will I be breaking it for parts shortly? ( probably at the first mention of a new UCH ).

Disconnected and reconnected battery got the central locking working but now can't get alarm to stop flashing hazards, no matter what I do ( lock / unlock etc )?

I've had similar issues with mine in the past. One of my keys won't activate the central locking, even if I code it to the car it seems to lose it's memory 5minutes later.

As for the alarm, when it starts playing silly buggers, I have to lock/unlock both the driver and passenger door manually, then use the fob to lock/unlock the car and that usually shuts the alarm up.
