Battery or Alternator? Im sure its battery....

Keep me right with this please. Car wont start without being jumped. Battery is reading 9volts but when started its reading 14.4 volts.

Am I correct to think the alternator is fine and its the battery thats dead?

Yeah it's gonna be the battery mate. This cold weather will be killing old batteries that have stood a while

A good battery should be about 12.6v , 14.4v as yours is when it's running.
If your battery is 9v it's cream crackered.
You've done well to have it 9 years , my original battery lasted 8 years then just died without warning.
