:'( Battery

:( Some thing weird is happening with my 3nd battery and my Car PC.
The car pc will work with engine on but only when 2nd battery is connected to 1st battery with Long Jumper cable. But as soon as i join the 2 batteries with 4awg wire with fuse the car pc dont work :'(

I'm thinking its more Interference related, as when the engine is off and its linked with 4awg the pc works. The pc also works when the engine is on and linked with long jumper cable. BUT does'nt work with 4awg link and engine on :'(

linked with long jumper cable?

having two batts really shouldn't make blind bit off difference as it would just see it as one large capacity battery:S

what extra wiring have you added? and how is it connected?

What do you mean by extra wiring. :S

I mean when the batterys are linked with jump leads. The car pc works fine even when engine is on :-S but when i link it with short 4awg it dont work (when engine is on)

( not changing any other wiring while changing battery link wire )

did you earth the 2nd batt to the exact same place as the first??

cos it sounds like it's either getting over or under voltage and not switching on

Well im not moving the earth, when i put the jump leads on. I'm just linking positive.
So im sure its not that, its earthed at the same place on the body as the 1st battery

sounds like something aint right:S

doubt it would be interference(sp) as that would happen all the time with the engine on

what are the connections like on the 4 awg??

Gold Termanals, could it be power surge From the engine / alt ??
And when i have a longer cable it sorts it out cus it loses some power

yeah but are they tight and good contact?

shouldn't drop that much voltage across the cable(with out it melting lol)

The cabel is melting :) (not even lieing lol)

tbh sounds like you wired your batts in series but doesn't look like it in your pic in the other thread:S

have you got a multimeter??? i'd connect it up so it don't work but don't connect the car pc and measure the voltage

Can you explain. what Series is ??
I dont have a multimeter!:'(

  Polo + Micra
well there's two way you could connect them series or parallel

say you have two 12v 40Ah batterys

in series (- on batt 1 to + on batt 2)you would have 24v 40Ah

in parallel(both +'s together and both -'s together) you'd have 12v 80Ah (this is what you want)

well don't know what to suggest without looking at it tbh lol

is the car pc running from the second batt?

Yep the car pc is connected to the 2 nd battery.
Only things on 1st battery are Door poppers, central locking, Engine, Link to 2nd battery

i thought the only way to set up a multi battery set up was wit ha split charge kit consisting off a relay?

Ive bought one of these for £40 to wire up my 3 Red tops (1 for the basic car stuff, 1 for ICE, One for the airbags when they are fitted)

I thought a split charge kit was just so you dont flaten ur Engine starter battery, but links the batterys so they get charged by the alt
(I'm not king of explainin;))

yeah split charge relays are just to stop you from killing you starter batt at shows and s**t

It's sorted cheers for all the help, Heres a quote that sorted it for me.

ok, the problem that you are having could be because the 12V DC-DC psu in the C156 does not regulate the 12V input from the battery. It just pushes it straight through to the mainboard.

When the car is running the voltage from the battery is likely to be nearer 14V and you could damage your mainboard and drives by feeding them too high a voltage.

To use the C156 in your car, you really need a regulator such as the Carnetix CNX-P1260 or CNX-P1290
