BBPT Decat query ?

  MKIII 138
engine mapping + Decat query ?

this is there blurb..

When MOT time is due, it’s a simple 4 bolt removal to re-install the cat and get the car to pass the required emission test. Once you’ve got your test re-install the de-cat pipe.

To make the most of this programme BBPT will also be offering an exclusive full ECU programme which will work hand in hand with the improved exhaust flow. Purchasers of our ECU already will be entitled to a low cost re-flash when purchasing the decat pipe. (Please advise us at time of purchasing de-cat)

my question, lets say im removing my decat and attaching my reno cat a few hours before MOT time. my engine is remapped with an induction, inletmanifold and shrik rally cams on a SMT6 or whatever perhaps no cams just the BBPT Rsport chip but its all been mapped as one big happy family including the decat gains and flow specs on chip.

how does the engine management respond on a.) stock ecu, b.) rsport c.) SMT piggy when reattaching a reno cat which isnt mapped, just for the MOT i.e driving a few miles there, and then putting the Decat back on when you are all happy and passed MOT ?

if a realtime chip is custom mapped for maximum flow on a decated car then adding removing this pipe will surley confuse the ecu, perhaps bring on an emission light or maybe go into limp mode ? how can you be sure that once you have passed your MOT and replaced you reno cat with the decat that everything will be hunky dory as was before fiddling with maximum power avalible??

cheers.

when you put the cat back on it splutters for about 5 mins as the ECU gets used to the changes, then runs fine , make sure you take it for a fast drive before you have your test to heat the cat up nicely.
