Ok ive had a word with a friend about changing the front bearings and a lower sus ball joint, and i need some opinions.
I can get 2 new front bearings and a new lower sus ball joint for £43.
The thing i cant decide about though is if i try get the hubs off myself and just have a garage press the old bearings out and new ones in, or, my friend knows of a garage which will do the lot (incl fitting new ball joint) for £70.
I know i could probably save about £50 taking the hubs off myself, but i would have to try borrow the right tools, then theres the issue of not having the car for a while, and my inherant lack of skill. Then i think i could just pay the £70 and have it all done properly in a few hours by a trained mechanic.
Im a student so £50 is a fair bit of cash for me - something i could put towards a valver which i will be on the lookout for in April. However, if i do do it myself i get the feeling something will go wrong somewhere. Theres always been c**k-ups in the past when ive tried doing stuff myself.
Any verdicts on the situation? I dont know what to do.
