hi all, was wondering if you guys would be so kind as to give me some advice on how to tune up the engine of my 1.4 clio RT (mk1). i will be doing a few miles when im in the raf next year so i wnat the engine to be more efficient, relable and a bit more nippy. can you tell me what i can do to get a bit more life into it? stuff luike polishing the heads and new injectors and cams, is that all expensive labour wise? thanks alot for reading. tom.

You'll end up ploughing in money for not little performance, and probably less reliability. K&N 57i... not gonna get u much power, but sounds fun...

and the more nippy you get it the less efficient it will be. plus tuning probably wont make the engine more reliable.

Mate, goto www.retro-renault.com or www.f7power.com and PM Chris H as he's your man for tuning info/work on mk1 1.4 RT...better than anyone else you'll find.

He's done a few - meddy-clio (sp?) on here is up about 12bhp over std and i know hes done another that was apparently giving a valver a hard time! Not megabucks prices either...

I'm not totally sure of what you can do but it's possible to get quite reasonable power out of them. I was looking into this in the past and I'm sure I heard of a few running close to 120BHP - but I'm not sure how true that was.

If you try doing a search there have been quite a few posts on this topic in the past. I think I'll keep an eye on this one and see what can be done and the costs involved.

start with the basics, pannel filter in the standard air box, de-cat pipe and a free flowing back box. get your cylinder head skimmed, possibly get it chipped? (but chipping it costs about £300!)

ou want it remapped not chipped, a chip will never be spot on to your car, a remap will ahve the car on the car ont eh rollers and maps it specifically to your car
