bented wheel...

  Clio RS
few weeks back hit a puthole quit hard
had vibrations in the steering wheel
checked the wheel and tire saturday and didn't see anything
then my mate at work (who does the mecanical part) tried to realine them, maybe lost a weight and that cleared out that the wheel had a , I don't know how to say it in english, but when it turns it's definately not straight...

also tires reveiled that the outsides were wearing quite badly in comparison to the centre

so, fixed it for now by changing the front wheels to the rear and the rear wheels to the front.
also pumped up the tires 2 2.5 bar instead of the normal 2.2 it has

tires are toyo t1r

the questions:
any of you guys with the same problem conserning the tires and how did you fix that?
and any idea if it would be possible to straighten the wheel again???

have a set of 16s laying around but haven't got the money yet for the refurbishing...

with the bented wheel on the back it seems al lot better

also feels like the car grips even more now with the pumped up tires

Sorry what?

EDIT: Just realised your from Belgium so I'll let you off :p

Looks like a new wheel at the very least mate

Always check firsthand with switching wheels like you did... to see what the problem really is.
A pothole surely won't mess the tracking!

Get the wheel realigned at a wheelservice center who does alignment and repair. If you turn does the steeringwheel kick/vibrate? Might be the rim being off-center...
In the end you might need a new wheel, might be correctly aligned and well balanced and all... but on high speed/more revolutions you'll notice the slight imbalance.
See if they put excessive wheel lead on at the tirecenter.

As to the outside thread more wearing on the tyres... less chucking into corners mate!

I love too just throw it in the cornes. it handles so good!!!!

the wheel had been reaglined. it was then that we noticed it wasn't, um straight or nicely round. it was like a bicylcle wheel when you jump a couple of kerbs...

when I turn the steeringwheel seems fine. I noticed the vibration specially when going straight and reaching higher speed

nope, more like Kortrijk-Brugge area

I'll see what I do with it, maybe put the spare wheel on and get that wheel fixed...

Then do the aligning again... but better! ;)
At Hellevoetsluis they heat the rim before tweaking it.
(on appointment i could even wait for the service instead sending it over and have it back in days!)

Better mount it in the back then!

Perhaps your tires are debt also?
At some wheel centers/tire centers they can balance the wheels with tires mounted!

Dat de banden schuldig zijn naast de zanten! ;)

Debt as in... err. :S

Aligning is richten... wiel richten.
Balancing is balanceren... wiel balanceren gezien de banden vaak een hoogteslag hebben.

That's proper dutch/anglo btw.

thanks

tires are fine, but toyo's are known for being soft so with my kind of driving...

thanks for the translation and bit of dutch ;-)
