Its been done before yet i've never done it lol. The seating position REALLY pises me off in the MK2. Removed the spacers yesterday, night and day difference i tell you. Everyone should do it!

That is all

Easy to do? Been thinking about doing it.

Piece of piss. Jack, stands and a deep 13mm socket. Thats all you need. We added a few penny washers (x2) under each fixing so i could still slide the seat about as the gf uses the car from time to time. You can see the difference between the two seats. Much better imo

I tried it once, but hadn't got a deep socket to tighten up the nuts underneath.

After a month of the subframes sliding under heavy braking and cornering, I gave up and put the mounts back in. Didn't feel that much difference between them in and not. More of a placebo I thought.

Haha, don't get me wrong, my seats were offset like that after I removed them, but for me, the uncomfortable position is the steering wheel being 2 inches too far away, rather than the seat too high

I did this after a couple of weeks of owning the car, much, much better... still not perfect with stock seats but it's worth doing! Also running an aftermarket wheel with a 50mm spacer (or a dished wheel) makes a big difference to the driving position!

Would it be possible to mod the standard seats any-more, making your arse a bit closer to the ground? Removing padding or modifying the frame? or put a spacer on the standard wheel?

I should be getting my 172 very soon but have had too long with no height adjustment in my polo and it kills me on long journeys!

Thats as low as a standard seat will go. Its loads better tbh. Do this and it'll be fine.

that was my prob untill i got the deep dish wheel. 9cm dish , prob fixed. :approve:
Only problem now will be the deep dish in my head when crashing because of loss of airbag :(
it does handle nicely though , steeringwheel up closer to the torso
