BeSt harness mounting points 172

  clio 172
After being on track at the weekend iv realised I need some bucket seats ,now I just need to know where every one mounts their harness also normally how much lower do bucket seats sit compered to a lower standard 172 seat cheers for your help in advance

Anything other than a harness bar on a roll cage is a potentially dangerous bodge. Connecting to the floor risks breaking your back in a crash.

Well some do, it is far from how they are supposed to be used properly though. Just a gamble people take (if they know the risk of course, some don't). If I was going to make mine into a fully prepped track car then I wouldn't fit harnesses without a cage. Have you tried a different driving position? I use mine on track with full interior and whilst I know buckets are ultimately better, I don't feel I NEED them, yes I move a bit in the seat but buckets are more choice than real necessity IMO.

Use normal seatbelts with the buckets.

MY mates done this and I have to say it works really well! The seats hold you in better than the standard ones on a track and the seatbelts mean you can still drive it easily as a daily.

Ah right, never knew.
Anybody else know then?
Pics?
My freind had buckets with normal seat belts in his old BMW, worked fine when I was in it. I also think he has the same set up in his current car, or at least the drivers seat.
No pics sorry, mainly as that car is now sat in my garage with different bucket seats and harnesses!

What's the difference with this idea and the factorry fitted Trophy Recoaros or the Recaros fitted to the 200 Cups and that which run standard seat belts?

So i presume you just take the standard seatbelt off the rail next to the seat and feed it through the holes and re-attatch it?

The MX5 has a normal seatbelt and harnesses.

You just use the normal belt like you would any normal belt, without trying to thread it through all the seat holes. That's only for driving to events though, because f**k the impracticality.

I would personally just CG lock the belt on the stock seat. Bearing in mind I've autotested my Volvo, which has big slidey leather seats, doing handbrake turns, without going anywhere in particular, I'd say that's all you really need.

If you don't want to pay out for a CG Lock then just twist the seatbelt buckle 2-3 times before doing it up.

Yeah i use a cg lock all the time mate. Great piece of kit.
Im keen on having buckets simply for the fact i feel to high in the standard seat.

I was thinking like this.
Then pulling the buckle through the hole on the other side and clipping in.

Im in two minds wether to go down this route.
Took the rear seats out today. the plan was to just put a boot mat in and leave it at that.
I can get the seats i want and slider runners for a decent price.
Bit undecided at the moment.
I might leave the seats out for a while and see how practical or not it is.
I rarely have anyone in the back seats anyway but sods law and that.

Quick question thats bugging me.
Im led to believe that if you take the standard front seats out then the buckle goes with them.
So how do you go about having a buckle to use?
Probably something simple im missing.
