best oil for 182 answered

Just reading this thread about which oil to use in the 182, my last car was an Audi TT and like alot of people on here, changed my oil ever 6k miles. Someone mentioned Mobil 1 at the beginging of this threat, I strongly recomend not to as this has zero viscosity when its cold, ie its the consistency of water and can cause damage unless the engine is warmed up before driving. One of my mates works for and oil company and recommended Silkolene 5W 40 fully Synth.

I only picked my 182 up yesterday and after a blast in the evening and cant believe the smiles per £££ you get from a car at this price, it must be the best value for money car on the road, 10 out of 10.

thats what is stated in the handbook so nothing new there, dunno what dealers were using before then.

well ive just been to my dealer and they have given me 10w40 semi synth they said thats the best to use at this stage so what should you do so many variations from dealer to dealer ill just put that in cant be bad oil semi synthetic should be ok for a car of the 182 performance surely!!!!

dealers dont know anything anyway.

Mobil 1 is not an oil i would use either, even the 15w50 is too thin and doesnt take heat too well....never again.

I think it is a case of buying in Bulk..

As most dealers will not see that many Clio RS & V6 and Megane 225s.. it aint worth them spending the money holding the 5W40.. Therefore up until this internal "Reminder" was issued, most of them will have been using the Bulk stuff... I know we have until today..

Note: that this internal document is not specific to the Oil issue, it is a reminder to the whole dealer network, of service intervals, and specific changes to service items. on current models...

use a 5W-40, end of !!

id personally use Silkolene Pro S 5W-40

i use Silkolene Pro R 15W-50 in my GTT engine and i dont intend on using anything else

just been quoted £25 for an oil and filter change on my 182 from main renault dealer if I bring my own oil so going to order some 5W40 Efl Excelllium 50 litres of it, should do me a few changes at 4.7 litres each or whatever it is.

Dealers do things wrong and are there to make money supply your own oil to make sure you get it right I say

just bought 48 litres of Elf Excellium LDX 5W40 should last me a while! lol
