Mines had no engine related problems, engine runs superbly, goes well and sounds perfect.
Check your if cambelt has been done, if not change it as a matter of urgency.. you can get a complete Renault kit fitted with replacement pulleys for £250-350 but its important its done, or the bill later on could be much harsher.
Might want to give it a coolant flush and general overhaul, plugs, filters etc - could stretch to leads, distributor cap/rotor arm and so on - guess it depends on how much history you have to check for recent replacements.
The most money so far has had to be spent on renewing old suspension parts that were contributing to the slightly soggy feel of the car. It may benefit from new shocks all round, bushes, a quick weld to the steering column to tighten it up if it needs it..
