Best option for lowering?

  Motorbikes
Been thinking of getting my Mk2 Ph1 1.2 16v clio lowered. At the moment I've not exactly got lot of money to spend. After a quick look on a coulpe of website (k-tec etc) it seems your looking to spend at least a couple hundred quid on new dampers and springs. Obviously lowering springs are the cheaper option but my mate said that all this will do is permanantly compress the existing dampers. Is this a good thing or is it kinda dodgy? And obviously a full suspension kit will perform much better, I'm only bothered about looks really as its only a 1.2 and aint gonna go much faster anyway...

So what is the best option to go for?

upto 40mm just srpings, more than 40mm springs and dampers. Ideally no matetr how much you lower it you would have springs and dampers, but as i've said, upto 40mm you should be ok. If i was you, i'd either get an apex 40mm spring, or a full 60mm kit.

Thanks guys.

Are these easy enough to fit myself? I've replaced springs in a Fiesta before, is it just the same procedure really? Not to mention my Dad used to be a mechanic too.

  Lots of Alfas
Theres a guide in the articles section of the site but you need to join to be able to read it. There is also a guide in the Haynes manual, its fairly straight forward to do as long as you have some spring compressors and the right tools. I managed it ok, the only problem I had was the rear shock bolts were very tight (corrosion).
