tyre gloss should be water based i think? a good wash with strong shampoo or APC should get rid of it
its rare to see tyre gloss actually lasting that long
Not true.
Wheels. Easy once you know how. Very simple fact that once they are cleaned (properly), you do not need expensive/any wheel cleaners.
Wash the wheels with a non-acidic/alkali cleaner, like Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner. This will rid the wheels of most of the built up brake dust.
The wheels are painted metal, so exactly the same as most of your body work. The only difference being that they are subject to higher temperatures than your body work.
Therefore, once washed, clay (old piece of clay), polish (menz, SRP, anything with a decent cut, and yes, you can machine polish them), seal (Poorboys, Chem Guys, FK1000p, the one Richyboi mentioned). Done.
Now you will only need warm, soapy water - the same as your bodywork.
Re tyres, you need to ensure they are clean and dry before dressing them. Most don't allow the tyres to dry properly, hence the shine not lasting. Or they apply so much shine, it slings off up the arch.
I degrease, using APC every time I clean the tyres. Scrubbed with a brush, back to a grey rubber finish. They are then dried either in the sun (come back to them once dry) or left for as long as possible and dressed WITH A CLEAN APPLICATOR using the smallest amount of Megs/Blackfire gel possible. Buffed, reapplied. Done.
