Best way to remove 172 gearknob?

As above. What is the best way to remove the gearknob from both a phase 1 and 2 172. I don't want any cutting involved.

Or would it be more feasible to swap the entire stick at the pivot point?

Mole grips.

You could remove the whole stick yep.

But the mole grips would damage at least one of the knobs?

So the shafts are interchangeable between phase 1 and phase 2 172?

Cheers Edde, you can always be relied upon.

Cracking. Thankyou muchly Edde.

Rich, i've not had chance to call Renault yet, i'll see what I can do tomorrow.

Yep shafts can be swopped there all the same.

How do you go about doing that edde?

Firstly you need to undo the bolt which hold the gearlever to the selection bar which attaches to the gearbox.

The stick is part of a white plastic box which bolts with 4 bolts 10mm (I think) to the center of the car. From under the car undo the bolts and remove the center box cover and fiddle around and the white box bit comes out.
