Try with the old air filter back on that will help i think, plus try some redex or some other form of pertol treatment they all clam better mpg.

they must be a very good filter to last that long but renault must be confident they can.a simple injection rail pressure check would show up a partially blocked filter.never had any trouble with these sender unit filters so i wouldnt worry.

Check your driving style by re-setting the fuel trip at different speeds etc.

My dCi will do 99mpg at 40mph in 5th, but only 36mpg at 100!!

Also think about Advanced Driving - its dead cheap cos tutors are trained volunteers (about £50 with the Institute of Advanced Motorists, IAM), youll get better economy by anticipating better, hardly ever need to stop at roundabouts by good timing and youll learn about road positioning for better faster lines and sustained gear changes (throttle open). Its not just for nerds with Volvos.

PM me about IAM, I used to be a Tutor!

Is your fuel economy really bad then Phil?

I know some people say they are CRAP, but I like the Ecotek. When it is turned off, I get at leat 2mpg less (34 goes down to 32), which works out about 20 miles per tank.

Also...only half fill your tank. That way you are transporting less fuel. The weight of the fuel probably works out about the same as a teenager (not that I have weighed any teenagers). Also, your spare tyre will add weight and use more petrol.

Its accelleration that uses most petrol, so the lighter the car the less petrol you use.

:=:cool:

Agree with Elliot about the weight, however the fuel tank on that 1.2 is only 43 litres, and the density of petrol is only 0.75kg/litre (about 3/4 the density of water), so even a full tank will only weigh about 30kg (average adult weighs about 65kg I think). Still a valid point though.

Yea, its quite bad whe i compare it to others. Ive got a fair bit of ICE in the boot which doesnt help, and thinking of gettin a de-cat, would that make it worse?

I always fill mine right up lol, save me going to the petrol station as often, but i know what you mean about half filling it.

A de-cat shouldnt make it worse. If anything I suppose it could improve fuel economy (provided you drive the same) because less power is being lost pushing the exhaust gases through the restrictive cat. Would be minimal though.

So what sort of MPG are you getting???

Im, getting 40MPG out of a 172 (in the week) and thats fully de-catted. And i do not drive slow. ( ask dannyboy)

well im not sure on the mpg, but i get about 350 miles on a tank full. I dont usually floor it, but i have been a bit since santa pod on sunday hehe ;)
