BIG hole in my engine.....

Driving along in my little 1.2 Clio that I boughttoday (privately) And doing about 80mph the oil light came on. tried to pull over to the hard shoulder but before I could make it, BANG! massive cloud of smoke and it stpped.

There is now no oil in the engine, but it has developed a fist sized hole right next to the dipstick...

What happened here then?!!

New engine I assume?? 1.28v.

  RS RIP
plug it up , put some oil back in...

Do'nt think there was any oil in there in the first place , that sounds nasty m8 ! Feel sorry ! Defo engine GONE

New engine time. It must have been fucked as the D7F is pretty much bullet proof.

Luckily this engine is readily available from breakers.

since i picked up a nearly new 182 engine from ebay for £250 you should be able to pick up a 1.2 for about £150 tops - fittings not to bad on these either as long as you have the tools :)

There was oil in it, not a lot but it was way over the minimum on the dipstick when I arrived and checked it.

sounds like a rod through the block mate, kippered engine am afraid, but as said easy to source and fit a direct replacement if your handy with a spanner

was it not knocking when you were driving it? its unheard of for something like that to happen without a good amount of prior warning
unless the sump plug fell out of something like that

myself i'd be straight back on my way to the seller to express my displeasure but spicy food might help too i suppose

Worth a go but he says it was bought private, usually sold as soon.
wouldnt really cut alot of ice to tell you the truth..
if i'd just bought a car and on my way home its engines internals spat themselfs out the side of the block on pure embarresment factor alone i'd have it towed back to the seller and wouldn't leave untill i had my money
only way you'd have to swallow it is if you agreed on a trade sale
