Biggest discs on 1.2 16v clio

  Audi S3 225

Whats the biggest size discs I can put on my car before I need to change the calipers. I gotta replace the pads and was thinking about maybe changing the disks as well.

I looked on andyspares and they sell 238mm that I think I already have, and 259mm that I was thinking about getting. Will this fit and is it worth the extra mm in size, price isnt much different either.

Thx

You need to stick to the same size disks if you are just changing the disks, you cant just stick a larger disk on, its going to strike the caliper.

my 16v has the Ktec big brake kit, im fairly sure they do something similar for yours... that will have a special plate which mounts the caliper further out and then a larger disk can be fitted. its supplied as a kit.

are you hoping for better braking, or better looks?? cos either way fitting some vented/grooved disks is the answer, if you dont want or they dont do a big brake kit.

just checked http://www.k-tecracing.comwww.k-tecracing.com and they do a kit for your car... but its going to cost you aound £200, well worth it though if you want good looking and larger brakes to fill those 17s.

its under clio2, brake section...

your brakes are plenty good enough for what you have.. so im assuming you want it for looks, it does that bit well!!

ok but what if I just wanna keep it standard, not too bothered about looks, just wanna get my brakes working again. The size difference isnt much 238mm to 259mm, would i need new calipers for the larger ones?

also on andyspares they sell bendix pads are these the standard ones that reno use.

as i ahevtnbeen near any 1.216vs i dont know what brakes they use, but the disk certainly should fill right into the caliper, so the other disks shouldnt go on in theory. but they wont make any difference anyway ... whats up with your brakes at the moment?

1.2 16V uses Valver/Williams discs 259mm NOT the GT Turbo ones which are 238mm!!!

It does however use the GT Turbo pads

well my pads are proper worn, so im gonna order a set from andyspares now, my discs look ok, no major marks but they dont seem smooth, dunno how they meant to be tho.

I think my car has 238mm, as its not the new shape its 2001 before the facelift, mk3 i think, so maybe the new ones have bigger discs.

ah yeah, pre facelift has 238mm IIRC PM tomclio16v, he has/had a 2001 prefacelift and changed the brakes
