Bike Rack Options

  clio sport 182
Hi,

I ride downhill and would like to start using my 182 to ferry back and forth from the trails as I am having to sell my camper van. However, what rack to get is a point of concern as I am worried that a roof rack would not have wide enough clamps to get round the down-tube of a downhill bike (giant glory '08 - for those of you familiar with downhill). But I am hesitant to get a rear mounted one as I do not want to either scratch the paintwork or attach the bottom hooks to the rear bumper as it seems too flimsy to be strapping things to.

Has anyone got an ideas or willing to share a current solution they are using?

Many Thanks,

Ben

i will sent u a picture of mine tonight when i get home from work, i bought the roof bars from a member on here and the cycle racks are from fisher cycles!

as i say i will send the picture for you to see when i get home as they are very solid and have plenty of adjustment for the down tube width

Many thanks, I will go down the thule roof rack route. Van i'm selling is an iveco turbo daily - love it, did 4000 miles in her round the alps with a mate this summer. Gutted she is going, but I can't justify running two vehicles at the moment. Ppicture of the van with the awning out and the jager flags on the night before we set off. Just had MOT done and had £1200 spent on her - she will go for literally hundreds of thousands of miles yet as she has been a campervan from day one. Ddone 104,000 km (yes, km - so uggar all), had belts done and as I said a lot of work a month or so ago. £2000 o.n.o if you're interested mate.
