Bit of a dilema 197 or 182??

hi really want a sport clio but i dont know to hold out for a 197 or go for a 182 full fat cup, what does every one recon??

As no one has had the chance to drive the 197 yet - it's a hard one. If you like the looks of the 197 maybe worth waiting for.

no 182s left, so need to be a demonstrator or low mileage 06/55 one in the auto trader. And no such thing as a full fat cup, its either FF or a cup.

Id wait for the 197, i dont think it looks that smart, but nice to get one with recaros and brembos. Downside is that it'll be dearer and prob start at £14-15k (list will be higher, but should be discounts).


182 should be 12k ish and still a great choice

yeah sorry its just i seen every one refer to them as full fat cups for every thing they got on them,figur of speech i guess but any ways i been looking at 182s and i fell in love with them its the twin exhaust that does it for me lol

true but its the thing for me that seperates it from the 172 ,just looks so much better

Get a 172 cup and spend some money on mods.You'll be smiles better off and dont worry about the age just think what a great little rocket you'll have

From what I've seen from the 197 I don't rate it at all but I dunno maybe you do?

Depends what you're sfter from a car.

I doubt we'll see a proper Cup like the 172 again.

Much cheaper, much more basic, lighter and faster. Ideal for some people.

I bought my girlfriend a 1.4 16v Mk3 Clio a few weeks back and it's miles (and I mean miles) ahead of the old Clio in terms of material quality, build quality, space, driving position, comfort, cornering stability (but no quite as chuckable as a result) etc etc.

If they can make the 197 go well and handle like sh*t to a blanket, which I think it will, then it will make a seriously good car. And with Renaults crazy pricing policy, you'll probably be able to get on for 5k under list.

well if it was me i wud get a 182 asap. i hate the look of the 197 and the 197 is alot heavier and bit slower....... i love my 182 and i think the 197 has runied the sport range..

I would wait untill the 197 comes out. Have a test drive of both and compare the two that way. Not keen on the 197 looks myself, but it has a 6 speed box and i doubt it would be much if any slower than the current renaultsport clios.

Wait for the 197, when it comes out, loads of people will be selling their 182's, so you could easily get a mint 182 for a good price, then when everyone realises that the new clio is poo, they will want to buy them back for more than you paid, tehehe
Not saying that the 197 is poo, i just don't like the look of it, its performance is gonna have to be acceptional to make up for the styling
