Bit Torrent - security issues with it?

  Octavia VRS
This is one for you lot that are using Bit Torrent regularly. I haven't used p2p since the first Napster/eDonkey/Kazaa days and would like to know if you have had any security issues with bit torrent.

Would you recommend it?
What's it like with spyware/adware/virus etc?
With the way it works will anti virus software detect infected files ok?

If there are any other issues put them down too.

Thanks

I've never had any probs with it. Most torrent clients are ad/spyware free and I've never had a virus. The file has always been what its supposed to be not like on kazaa where people rename films to p**n and things

torrent is generally ok. ifyou use torrentspy they have comments on all the torrents so see waht people have said before downloading. some are fake but not many.

Just ensure you have pear guardian on, which blocks all government ip addresses, and legal authority ip addresses from scanning your pc for illegal stuff or monitoring you.

also up to date AV and firewall

do you have alink to the proper version of peerguardian?

do you actually need this with having a firewall...I used it long ago but didnt bother re-installing after a format.
