PH1 172
After having the 197 delivery date moved to end of september needed to fill the clio shaped hole in my life. Friend collected this from England last week and wanted me to detail it as soon as he got home!
How the car arrived -
First thing to tackle was the arches. They were filthy! So i used Super Degreaser cut 4:1 and a scrubbing brush and two swissvax style brushes to clean the fiddly bits.
The arches looked like this to start -
Me armed with my weapon of choice
Some scrubbing and powerhosing later ended up looking like this -
(Note: arches were dressed when dry! No pics though )
Next was the wheels. I used my third bucket and the Ez Detail brush.
Cannot recommend this brush enough - long enough to reach the back of any wheel i have met so far! Only down point is you get covered in spray!
Next the car was foamed - after 10 minutes the foam had basically all dripped off!
All shuts were cleaned with APC as was inbetween the badges!
Car was cleaned using the 2BM and a lambswool wash mitt. Car was then clayed using Megs Normal Clay - after a 8th of the roof it looked like this -
Dirty stuff! Just goes to show how much stuff gets stuck to the paint that you dont even notice!
Car was then dried using Last Touch as a lube and a AquaTouch One Touch Drying Towel!
Onto swirls
Paint readings were taken and were normal - varying between 130-150. Plenty of paint to play with
Car was then taped up ready for some G220 action!
Next step was a not normal one! The owner popped round to fit his new bulbs
Tried Menz 85 on a polishing pad with no effect. Moving to a compounding pad was moving some swirls - but not nearly enough. Out with the 3.02 and compound pad - leaving this as the finish.
(Note: this was after COMPOUND only - hence the marks still there!)
At night i realised i had my work cut out -
But 3.02 did the job again!
Now 1am - i concntrated on the engine bay - no before pics was fairly dirty but nothing out of the ordinary. Afterwards looked like this-
The owener poped round the next morning to leave me a heat gun -
(He had ordered a new stye Renault Sport badge )
After 3.02 only again - flake popping!
No pics of the rest of the process. The whole car was doen with Menz 85RD on a compounding pad - which removed the remaining marks.I would say the car was corrected between 90-95%. 2 Layers of Jetseal 109 were then applied followed by a layer of Raceglaze 55!
First time using Jetseal and was very impressed with the results - need some Zaino now
Sun would not play ball - but some finished pics -
Owner was over the moon! The day after finished the detail however the dent guy came out to work on the bonnet.....
and wiped the bonnet "clean" to rub off any dirt so bonnet needs done again! But a very enoyable detail nonetheless!
