blackberry / Email

Looking at getting a blackberry mainly so I can check e-mails and internet while away from the computer.

I've never used / had a internet phone before so got some questions.

To check e-mails does it have its own client so I can just input my pop3 server and details or does it have to be web mail.

Can I have the Phone auto check my pop3 server every so often and update me when I have a new e-mail

When you sign up you will then register the device on yhe blackberry site that is linked to the provider.

You put your email address and password into that and it does the rest. As soon as mail arrives it will appear on the handset.

You say you only have to enter e-mail and password. Would it still work with my own pop3 server. Not just the main ones e.g hotmail gmail yahoo?

Like does it let you set up the settings for the server

It usually auto finds the settings but you can enter them manually if it fails.

I had my bb running from a test Exchange server running out my bedroom ;).

Thats alright then. As our website renaultcentre.com is hosted in our office with the mail server mail.renaultcentre.com but I only set it up for pop3 not webmail.

Is there any blackberry or other phone you would suggest I don't want touch screen.

Maybe some thing that runs windows as i'm pretty handy with it.
