Blacklist Idea

Just had a thought, would it be a good idea to start a thread on here with details of cat d/c Clio's and there numberplates? ie..
Thread title of the post could be numberplate followed by model then the post would have details of any HPI checks done etc. Would maybe save some of us paying £20 a pop on HPIs if someone on here has already found its a dud.
Maybe there are rules against it or maybe it just wouldnt work...?

Discuss.

I like the idea a lot, i dont see how it could be against the rules as people on here are always saying things like "oh thats the cat d from last week" or whatever, so why not. It stops bad cars running through the club as people buy and then sell them when they find out whats wrong with them.

That way people could just search the reg before buying the car, and if its in that thread then you know to steer clear.

Doesn't seem a bad idea.

Although, would there be implications about having details of someones car on the forum saying it's Cat c/d or whatever, surely it's up to the buyer to check this out?!?

Yeah maybe your right but at the end of the day if a car is cat c/d the seller shouldnt be trying to hide it anyway so i cant see how it would do any harm to have it on here.

But it is of no benefit for people other than the seller to lie about a car being written off though, so surely this just a way of protecting CS'ers and if it was in members only then it wouldnt be visible to joe public

Not enough people would do it, you'd end up with a thread listing just a few cars. The cars you want would probably be outside of the forum, and so the details for that car, most probably, wouldnt be in the thread. Just spend a few quid and get a text check?

There is already a "Black list" which would be far more accurate than anything we put together on CS.... Its called and HPI Check ;) Text Check FTW £3.00

Yeah i suppose so, example though, if i HPId a car today and it came back as being written off, would there be any objections by the mods or anyone else if i put a post on here with the number plate and some details?

It might be worth noting that some people catually want to buy Cat C or D cars as a cheap way into CS ownership?

Others want them as track cars.

I think anyone that buys a car without doing an appropriate check is not really 'going in with their eyes open' - IYKWIM?

A black list of VIN #'s (or other ID mark) of stolen and unrecovered cars strikes me as being more beneficial to the community...

It would annoy the hell out of me if I were a proud new owner of a Clio 1*2, thought I'd share my joy with the 'lovely' people on Cliosport, only to get a smug wink followed by a link to a list of Cat D cars, of which mine was on there.

Leave it to HPI, please.

what if i was trying to sell a cat c V6..black in colour..??

oh no wait..

personally...if you post a comment asking about a certain car...you WILL get replys..no need for a blacklist..

I think that a list of registration plates and their model of car (Not including engine size) and the username could be good. Incase someone new has just bought a new Clio, they can see if anyone on here has owned it.
