Nissan 350Z
Just had my Blueflame 182 exhaust fitted today by the very guys themselves. Took them around 2 hours from me going in, to me leaving, and the service was professional
Pictures - search the forums if you want to see them - if you REALLY want to see pics of mine then I will take some, but ultimately, it pretty much looks the same as any other 182 blueflame system Suffice to say though, I reckon pictures dont really do it justice - it definitely looks nicer than the stock system, and although i wasnt really sure about the appearance in photos, it looks very nice indeed in the flesh.
So, what do I think? Well... anyone who has driven a Mk2 Golf GTI should have a fair idea what to expect, thats all I will say. My last car was a mk2, and after the Blueflame system, it really reminded me of that car. It burbles quietly at tickover. If you are not accelerating, just cruising, then the system is marginally louder than the standard system, but its not too bad. As soon as you press the loud pedal though, well, its very much louder than the standard system....
At lower revs, i.e. below 5000 rpm, it has that boomy note you would get from the Golf GTI. Also similar to the Golf, the boominess dies down at higher revs (i.e. above 5000 rpm). At high revs, the engine does not sound as different to standard as I thought it would, but somehow, still sounds different, perhaps a slightly more frantic and louder howl than standard.
Sounds daft, but my favourite changes as a result of this exhaust are when you actually start the car up, which sounds so much better than before, and when you pull away in the lower gears. It just sounds a lot more sporty.
Its also been said that the exhaust can add up to 10 BHP extra power. Well, I am not about to claim huge power increases, but nevertheless, whether I was imagining it or not, the car did *seem* a little keener. There was a bit more mid range torque and a slight bit more throttle response. At the top end, in 2nd gear its almost as if the car was trying to wheelspin, and I've never had that before on a bone dry day like today.
Anyway, the blueflame system is a fairly cheap upgrade, and I'd say, the cosmetics and sound improvement alone are worth the price, and if it is really more powerful (and I'd say that was possible) then thats a bonus too. Also comes with a lifetime warranty.
You would really have to be mad to consider replacing an OEM exhaust with another OEM exhaust when this is an option for less money.
