Blu-ray Burning

Or to put it another way is this how you creat a Blu-ray disk. I have a couple of BR films now on my PC and they are in mkv format. I want to burn them onto a BR disk so they can be played in a normal BR player. What is the best way??

you need to convert mkv to m2ts file. this is then the format you put into the stream DIR in a bluray disc...

although atm ,i'm ont sure why you would want to do that, do you have a ps3? or is it a dedicated bluray player?

No I have a dedicated BR player. Are there any decent guides for this kind of thing.

yeh plenty mate. doom9.org is a useful site or videohelp.com

What software do you have got latest version of Nero? that will burn the movie for you.

Are you going to buy bluray discs? or just burn dual layer dvd's in bluray format?

Not used Nero for a while. Currently using Ashampoo Burning Studio 8 which supports Blu-ray but Im just trying to understand these file types and what you are suppose to do with them lol.

I will be burning onto BD-R and BD-RE disks to play on my stand alone BR player.

So with the latest Nero can you just burn with that mkv file or will that have to be converted??

nah mate, screw all that.

i'm not sure how you're aquiring these mkv files but i would imagine they are from the web and compressed to about 8gig in which case, there is no point wasting money on bluray dics, get yourself some dual layer dvd's and use them, the bluray player will still play them in hd if the file formating system is correct.

Step 1, convert the file

there is a program called mkv2vob - it simnply outstanding and does everything you need. Configure it to convert to m2ts output. Run your mkv file through that.

with the resulting m2ts file, burn it using your burner by placeing it into a bluray compliation, specifically withing the STREAM directory of the disc.

Voila, HD playback.

The files im getting are from a valued source ;).... and they are genuine Blu-ray rips. They are often over 9Gb so the dual DVD option is pretty much I think.

The guide above is pretty much what Im after to be honest :).

Ok I meant they have been ripped from a genuine Blu-ray disk. They have obviously been compressed already.
