Can't argue with that. The more I think bout it a E60 M5 touring is a bulbous thing. That R26R will be nimble and just about as much fun as you can have on the road. Go for it

I understand your reasoning but I wouldn't go for an R26R.
Personally, I'd be looking at mini JCW GP2s.
All the pros of the megane but with better build quality and in my opinion it's just a better car.

But I didn't realise it was you with the m5 touring! I wouldn't be getting rid of that for a megane.

No way would I swap an M5 for a Megane. All that refinement and 500bhp for a tin can with a fancy exhaust. No chance.
Plus you have an Evo rally car which gives you all that side of driving pleasure for feel and handling.
I was waiting to see an advert for some sort of C63 or S/E 65 AMG.
But its your money and you do make them look nice.

I hear you both, I have owned three super fast estates now and as much as I love them, I want to take a step back to basics. All these modern cars with aids to make you feel like driving gods, hate it. Test drove a 997 turbo and RS6 this week, was left numb and disappointed. Cars like the megane F1s are finished just like evos. We are now in a new era of cars and I don't want to be part of it!

Already had a E63 AMG, wasn't that fussed hence the M5.

Interesting thread. I ran a e39 m5 for 2.5 yrs got rid of it last September and got a Clio 200 a few weeks ago. The amount of money an m5 costs to run is just savage. For the bang for ya buck I don't miss the m5 and that Megane is even better so go for it!

My old man ran an R26R as his daily for a year or two. 6 point harnesses were quickly swapped out for more convenient 4 points.

Plastic rear windows were a nice gimmick!

I don't think much went wrong with it, it was just 'very focused' for a daily. I don't think his had 888s due to the noise they make.

I had the 225 stripped out with 4 points and thought that was a decent car, so I can imagine that the R takes it to awesome levels. Always liked them, a good investment. I can't imagine you'd lose money on it.

When I got the M5 originally we needed a large estate as my wifes b class was to small. Now she has a tank so mine is not needed as much.
