Bonkers collection escort cosworth

You wouldn't like a cossie mate!

The standard inlet is a similar design to the RS2. And what would a shitty old company like Cosworth know about tuning engine. ;)

5,475 miles in 17 years?

Works out around 320 a year I think, how is that even possible? That's my weeks worth.

It's like going back in time to them rolling off the production line.

Not for me personally. Think it's the colour.

I'd love a few time warp cars - It would be so cool owning something like that.

Surley they wont be the original tyres on will they? Going by the mileage its only been taken out to be serviced lol

Pacific blue or mallard green ftftw

wonder what he paid for the 800mile one he has just bought!

They will be mate. It has not been outside in the sun or rain with the tyres cracking so they would be mint.

I'll try and find my old pics Fred, unfortunately the car is no longer in our possession as sadly my Dad died a little while ago and the car went to his other family, I saw it on Pistonheads for sale recently for I think around 45k, still with the same mileage

Thanks mate, It really was yeah, Ive found a very old link to some pictures I put up waaay back in 2006! (someone on Corsa sport stole my thread lol)

I saw the car pop up on Pistonheads a little while ago, and I think it was eventually auctioned off to a collector

Unfortunately though after my Dad died the car wasnt looked after as much by his other family and the condition had dropped slightly, so In a way I was quite pleased to see it go to a collector who will restore it to the condition you see in the pics above, Ive heard it might even be used by Ford for their displays, which would be nice to see :)

As much as I love RS Fords.

It is a real shame that thing has not been driven hard! Appreciate it for what it is, but that is alot of money for an Escort!

They made many thousands of them (6k iirc) so I think it's good a few survived more or less unused so they are still able to be seen in original condition today.
Cool cars but I much prefer how the 3 door sierras drive having driven loads of examples of both over the years in levels of tune from standard to 700+ bhp

On that point, we both know people don't buy the Escos because the way they drive, standard anyway. Infact they're borderline appalling as standard.

Not sure I would go that far, they are just less exciting than the rwd ones, although I must confess its a very long time since I drove a standard one, most of the ones I have driven recently have been in the 500-700 region

It feels very dated put it that way, granite gearbox. I certainly wouldn't be buying a standard one for it's driving ability if you get what I mean it's about the whole package.

Oh yeah they definitely feel dated, and I think that dated feel just seems more at home in the sierra shell, like I like how a mk1 clio drives but I would be pretty unhappy if a 197 drove the same way, not sure if that really makes sense but it does to me, lol

On one hand this is so rare and is great to see in this condition in 2013

One the other hand it feels a waste this has been sat here and not used when back in the day this was the cream on the pie in terms of hot hatches in the 90's

Bang on chap.
