Bonnet Clio Sport 172

Hi everyone!


I’m new to the group, my name is Mikael and I’m from Portugal . I own a few classic cars, and I’m currently looking for an aluminium bonnet/hood for a 2000 Renault Clio Sport 172, in Sunflower Yellow.


As far as I know, the aluminium bonnets were fitted to the early Clio Sports. Were they available in all the original colours, including Sunflower Yellow?


I’d really appreciate any information or advice, and if anyone knows where I might find one, I’d be very grateful!

I think I'm right in saying that the aluminium bonnets only came on the first year of production cars, which were all silver. Once they started introducing more colours, they switched to the heavier bonnet style. So unfortunately, you'll have to find a silver one and have it repainted.

Check breaker yards for Clio RSI too, early ones also had them, that's where I got mine

Good afternoon, thank you for your reply... so is it confirmed that the first models from the year 2000 came with an aluminum hood regardless of the car's color?

My black PH1 172 had an alloy bonnet, almost threw it into the windscreen the first time i tried to open it as i didn't expect it to be so light! - I remember a lad on here had a Sunflower yellow one with an alloy bonnet too and it got damaged and the insurance company replaced it with a steel bonnet and he had a bit of hassle to get it put right, Middo i believe his name was?

But yes i got one from a Red RSI - My silver RSI had a steel bonnet though.
