Bonnet - I cant get it open!!

Help! Just tried to open the bonnet for the first time on my new car and the catch releases but I cant get it off the catch. I've located the small handel under the bonnet but this does not help!

Any ideas??

Are you pulling the catch towards you?

Yeap. Catch releases as it should (i can live the bonnet about 1inch) but cant pop it off the catch to release it completly.

they usually catch on the plastic gaurd over the front panel,rather than pushing the lever reach behind the catch and pull toward you,remember that the catch hooks under the panel so you'll have to lower the bonnet slightly while doing it.
