Bonnet Pins

Guys and Gals,

In the first half of 2012 the clio will be blessed with some Cams and ITBs amongst other goodies (as long as the GF isn't monitoring the bank balance). My questions for this part of the forum are on the bonnet pins. First question is, I assume bonnet pins are a must as the existing catch mechanism obstructs the trumpets on the ITBs. I also am led to believe they will do a much better job in terms of making sure the bonnet stays where it should, i.e. not in my face whilst going around a track.

Second question, if Bonnet Pins are a must, i'm a bit of an OEM+ freak, and the flamer is externally being focused on being as clean as possible. Has anyone got any ideas / done anything in terms of blending the aerocatch type bonnet pins in more than just flushfitting the black surrounds and pins into a differing colour bonnet. Do you think you can get the pins sprayed for example?

Opinions and views welcome, and you can tell me to stop being such a freak and live with the black on red contrast on the bonnet if you want. Piccie of car as is, found here;

You can run ITBs with the standard bonnet locking mechanism. Will have slightly shorter trumpets though.

I've just fitted ITB's - and I've tried it with the standard slam panel

It does work but leaves no room for filters at all
You could swap the 90mm trumpets for 60mm but you would lose a bit of power

Cheers guys, I think I am going to keep the 90mm trumpets, as the power is primarily what i'm after.

I think I am going to go down the aerocatch flushplus route, and get them sprayed flame red (hopefully by Spray Shack on here). That will have to satisfy my desire for sleeper / OEM+ external look and high performance engine / internals.:D
