so I had to take a little break from the project I laid a concrete base then built a double length garage in my garden after loosing my storage but it’s much nicer the cars being home.
I’m quite lucky to have rear access and just enough room to park a mk1 or mk2 between the garage and the gates I know no one cares about the garage but I’m quite proud lol
And so the project starts again I wanted to get my head ported and after a lot of uming and aring I decided it was best to use the 2.0 head off a Megane f7r. Mainly because it has 33mm valves but also because it has the best design ports for flow. The other difference is that the Megane uses coil packs not a dizzy im not using the dizzy anyway no not a problem for me .
So the heads been ported new valve guides valves lapped in then going for a clean and all the other rubbish it needs so should come back nice and fresh ready to bolt on
While this was being done I sent of the rocker cover cambelt cover and thermostat housing for paint in the oe colours
Tiny update the original egr hole just happened to be 12mm so it’s been drilled out to 12.5 and tapped to m14 to accept the Clio air temperature sensor
Since the egr bolt holes were now idle seemed to be the ideal place to mount the bracket for the map sensor
So I noticed last minute that my oil return pipe had a split in it so a called Sfs and they dug through all their old moulds and managed to make me a nice new one in black
I set the exhaust cam with 1 degree r****d and the inlet 2 degree’s advance hopefully that’s a good starting point
Bit more progress new water pump fitted new thermostat fitted 750cc ev14 injectors fitted heat shield and re routed the fuel lines to their original position
I fitted a old cam cover to keep the freshly painted one nice as it may have to come off and on a few times during mapping starting to get all the little bits done now vacumes breathers and modified the bit of plastic that sits round the oil cap
Engines starting to come together cams are in Kent rn1601 I was lucky enough to fish a Megane inlet manifold that has been ported by mark fish and a 64 mm throttle body from a 172
