Boot lock? buggered or not buggered

After being banged from behind by and Audi, my boot doesn't catch on the lock. Its all aligned ok, but seems as if the catch on the boot lid is locked solid.

Should i be able to push the catch in with a screwdriver?
Can i fit another catch of another boot without anything else being changed?

Anyone? Just want to know if the latch on the boot lid should be able to be pushed by hand.
If not, i need to look elsewhere for the problem.

yea you should be able to flick the catch closed when its in its open position, but if its already in its closed position then its not going to open by finger power... can you still hear the lil cam gear working on the boot with the centeral locking?

Yes it clunks as usual when locking and unlocking. But doesn't move. And ive used some force with a flathead and won't budge.
