boot release from ph2 172 on to ph1 172

as the title describes i want to put the boot release button on the rear of a ph2 172 onto my ph 1 172 (where the button is inside the renault diamond)
i was wonderin if any1 attempted this and whether its easy i dont fancy swappin the whole boot lid if i can help it

Theres one for sale in car parts for sale.

the rear number plate indent/surround stops at either side of the boot button. As the Ph1 boot button is smaller the number plate surround stops with only enough room to fit the small boot button in. so you may need to bdify that!
p.s i hope that makes sense :S

it won't work cos the ph1 lock is smaller and ph2 bigger so is better to get replace whole boot
