Both belt kits or Recaros?

  200 Gordini
My car is nearly 4 years old, but low mileage (18k)

It needed the aux belt doing last year and the cambelt next.

I've got some money to play with since selling my old car so i can either get both belts done or get recaros for £500 px with my seats.

I really want to snap these recaros up but i want to get at least the aux done, but if get that i might aswell get the cam done too.

Decisions bloody decisions.

Your thoughts if you please

Recaros will look lovely on your bedroom floor when you take them out to sit in because your engines gone bang because you chose posh seats over servicing.

Although saying all that Tom is on nearly 90k without changing the cambelt.

true say true say, from what i know about the car it was garaged most of its life by the previous owner so the belts wouldn't of been in 'the elements'

From the 'Experts' section over at Renaulsport.co.uk:

It is a very confusing issue..and in the past I have possibly stated 36k / 5years. But it should be: Timing belt: 72k/5years - accessory belt: 36k/5 years - I hope that clears it up. Regards, Allen.

No it wouldn't be under warranty sadly, but all the manuals say 5 years and as do the renault techies in that thread.

I'm on 22k and i'm gonna risk it TBH.

Get the belts done and save £100 a month for a few months.

Done.

Seats will be gone and i wont get them for £500, thats why its either and not both.

I could get the seats, save £100 for 1.5 months and get the AUX done ;)

Just get the seats it's obviously what you want to hear.

If the engine needs a rebuild don't come crying to us about it!

^^^^ why is he running the risk? it's 1 year and 18k underdue?

Aha missed the part where he said it was 4 years old, seats now, belts next year! :D

I dont cry btw

Im asking because from what i have read on here it is 3 years for the aux and 5 for the cam, i thought i was in the middle of both whilst having the seats available to me so i needed advice.

Of course i'd prefer the seats for looks but i'd rather have my car running sweet with a less of a risk of f**king my engine up.

Now the recommended time for the AUX is 5 years (not cs recommendation) i think i'm going to 'risk' not doing the belt until i've saved up again.

Read my thread? As far as i can tell the 3 year thing is just a CS myth

lol mines on 22k and will be 4 in march, so kinda in the same position as you, i reckon i'll get it all done at 30kish at 4.5 years old.

i was told by renault aux belt was moved to 3yrs 36k due to warranty claims on them failing?

If you read the thread i posted, no one has any evidence to support that, all still say 5 years.

Remember to declare your new seats to the insurance. That will cost a tad more?

Get the belts done first imo.

belts first but get recaros as well and put them on a low interest credit card and pay that off over 5months. Job done

Don't get the seats, there are far better out there. £500 to lower the driving position by 10mm? Not a mistake I'll make again.
