Bought my first Clio today!!

I just bought an M Reg Williams 2. Picking it up Monday afternoon, I cant wait!! 47.5k on the clock, 1 owner from new (he still has the invoice from the Renault dealer for £14k!!) and full service history with all receipts.. Just had a new engine management system installed too, with a 12 month guarentee.

Car has rusted front discs, a broken NS front spring, a few stone chips and a minor trolley dent, but the bargaining power these problems gave me meant I got a STEAL. I paid about £700 less than the next best Willy 2 I found, which wasnt in as good condition as this..

The car is absolutely standard (for now), Ill probably replace the springs with standard Renault parts (why mess with perfection?) and uprate the discs to Tar-Ox grooved jobbies when I do that..

Only other niggle with the car is a really miniscule oil leak at the gearbox drain plug/driveshaft, which the checking mechanic told me wasnt anything major (I hope!).

Sorry if this isnt interesting to other people, Im just a very happy man.. and relieved to find a good un after viewing loads of not-so-good!

Hey welcome to the Willie club!

I think discs rust as they are mild steel -ie: soft or they would not stop you!

Cheers guys.. will try and sort some pics out, mebbe once Ive had two of the wheels cleaned up a bit!

I was due to look at a Willy 1, #41, which is in the For Sale forum. Looks absolutely superb, spoke to the guy and it seems its been very well cared for, but I couldnt ignore this one at the price!

Just been checking out replacement parts, if I go DIY on the springs and discs Ive got more off the price than its gonna cost to fix. It should be pretty easy with Haynes manual to hand. It does mean Ill have a bit spare towards a cambelt change too, which is all good.
