Box near throttle pedal

OK I had this happen a couple of times now and Ive just stuck it back onto a shelf bit but it keeps periodically dropping on my foot. Its a box attached by a couple of wires and measures approximately 5 x 3 x 2 inches. and it may have a adjustable knob on it (not 100% on the appearance as I havent seen it in the daylight.)

I have only noticed it since my Clifford alarm has been fitted so not sure if its anything to do with that. If anyone knows what it might be, or where its come from it would be a great help.

I may have a look tomorrow to have a better look at it, then report back but thought Id put it to you people beforehand.

Thanks

Matt

is it a concept 300 alarm because it might be the proximity detector which has a little light on it?sounds too big tho?

ill go and have a look in mycar and tell ya
-just had a look mate and theres nothing there, it could be sensor for clifford or it could be the main clifford box sounds same size!

the light will flash all the time with around 3 second intervals (red led), have u got the normal light which should be on the dash somewhere?

Mightt be the glass break sensor.

What model clifford alarm have you got?

[Edited by cnic69 on 05 January 2005 at 10:07pm]

Just read the other posts..i have the G5 concept 650 aswell.

I think that is the main unit and needs to be secured under your dash.

If fitted by an engineer then you should call them back as this should not be easily accessible and is usually hidden well away...!

Yeah I have got the normal blue light on the dash.

I have also got glass break sensors on it, along with tilt-sensors, remote headlight activation and window closure.

That bloody immobiliser, all i here when i get in is blip blip blip, as everything is turned off!

Yeah, really annoying having to do that everytime. Its a race getting in the car and turning the original immobiliser off before the 30sec CAT1 of the alarm kicks in. Also doesnt help with my sunroof leaking.

It was World of ICE in Colchester, havent been too bad although I have been back a number of times for different bits like the switch on the passenger door was upside down and they had a few problem getting both of the windows to go up with the window closure.

Now my alarm is in place I shall be going back there in a couple of weeks time to get my audio setup from there.

Ah yeah that looks about right cnic69, or at least feels as though its that. Will I need access to it at a later date, because I need to secure it up really as when I go to pull away I have it sat on my foot, which isnt very handy to be honest.

Point it out to your installer, they havent done it properly.

You shouldnt need access as any further modules (if any ) or maintenace should be carried out by an approved installer.

yeah thats where mine was fitted quite a good fit had to go back number of times as car wouldnt start because the immobilisers wouldnt work together and the remote stopped working!if u get problems uv gotta argue with them thats what i found!

audio setp in there might be quite expensive i made my own stealth shelf for £15 ands pretty good!

if u ever need mechanical work done the renault place behind is pretty good just had a new clutch and there good blokes!

Will have to give them a call tomorrow, and get a date sorted, may try and blag some installation time from them, for the amount of times Ive been back!

Thanks for the help guys though.

I recommend the remote headlight activation to anyone though, its the best £10 Ive ever spent i think. You turn them on and the person walking past the car gets a great shock. Then they look inside the car and find theres no one there.

  6/468 17poo

yeah the man who fits the alarm is a bit annoying he wont listen to what uv got to say either, i was waiting 2 months for a new remote then he said the battery was run out well that was a load of mailto:b@ll@cks">b@ll@cks!

so i argued and got a new one on the spot then he tried to charge me for installation costs then i lost it!!

i work in halfords and no when someone is taking the mickey mouse and he was!got my way in the end!headlights sound well cool, just wish the renault immobiliser could be dumped wouldnt have to rush so much!

Rich you mean? I know them all by their first names now, been in there so many times!

Do you have the cool blue light with the G4 series?

Yeah the immobiliser is really annoying, sure that there must be some way around it.

  6/468 17poo

nah its not rich i think its ken maybe, the others are ok its just hes the manager i believe. ive got the red light probly should have got the blue as i got a blue car but i fort it was more security-afied. cos if u see a red light u stay away (well thats what i fort load of toilet really)

yeah i no someone with remote start on a valver but always forget to ask him how its wired up as its a race against the clock!

usually just put it in valet mode from a distance especially if i put a sterring lock on!;)

Bright as fook...

It lights up the interior very well...lets hope it scares off the little t**ser who might wanna break in!

Too right, its been broken into once before the alarm was put on, so I dont want them getting in again!

Ken is the one with the green Golf, the actual manager isnt in there a great deal. If you need any advice on audio ask for Phil, hes a top bloke and knows his stuff.

The light look sreally good when then front window is steamed up at night, because it lights the whole window up.

If you do find how its done could ya tell us how.

Thanks

I had only pasted my test for 6 weeks, then left the car to play football for 2 hours and found it in that state.

I like most Golfs although, that one isnt to my taste really.

I have a hole in my glovebox (bottom right as you look at it) and it doesnt have a definate shape. Not sure what its from whether the previous owner had a console in there or what although just slightly concerned i might loose something down there.

Also my headunit seems to be skipping a lot more recently, Im not sure if its becuase the headunit had become loose in the cage, or what. Dont think the lens needs cleaning as it only does it over bumps.

  6/468 17poo

if u wanna get away with no skipping cds and get rid of the hole in the glove box get a cd changer as long as ur current headunit is compatible!and put the changer in the glove box and ur sorted!this is what i have done ive got minidisc headunit and cd changer and there are NO jumps at all plus the car is pretty bumpy now!

nah im not keen on the golf either it never used to be lowered but it is now since it went up for sale! headunit might be loose because of worn cage but all cd players will skip even ones with dolphins!!!

I may try and find a CD Changer as my glovebox is always full anyway. I have a Alpine CDA-7852-R which came with the car.

Do you think a new cage would be worth a try?

  6/468 17poo

Could try one mate or just tighten up all the screws surrounding the headunit mount under the blower nobs!

if u get a changer u obviously have to get one the same make as your current headunit!halfords stock new cages should fit.

the clio headunit is at an akward angle so the cd might skip even more!a poor design but the flap which goes over it is the best design ever"!"

maybe take out old cage and bend it better so its tighter might be worth a try!

what audio are u getting fitted at world of ice"?

Not too hopeful on finding an Alpine CD Changer to suit my headunit to be honest. Its at least a couple of years old now. I have found 3 at http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/default.php?cPath=9&&received_mfg=0:11http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/default.php?cPath=9&&received_mfg=0:11+ Not sure if any of these would fit becuase it doesnt state what models they are for.

I may try the parts connecting the headunit to make sure that they are tight, and pad it out a bit so it doesnt shift about as much. The design isnt the best in the world, you would have thought that they would have altered it by the time they made the ph3 models at least.

I am going to get some Audio systems componants for the fronts with the tweeters either mounted in the standard place behind the speaker grilles in the dash, or in the mirror covers in the doors. A Twister amp and a Audio Systems 10" (I think, still undecided) sub. The sub is a bit of an eye sore, but it sounds great.

  6/468 17poo

yeah i no what ya mean with a sub bit annoying as it takes up so much room!a 10" is fine in my opinion as long as the box doesnt slide all over the show!

on ur head unit have u got changer control (bus inputs) and outputs for the amp?they should all work as long as its got changer control theres usually 3 wires-2phonos and 1power maybe different on alpines tho!

in my car i got 13cm infinitys in the doors 10 cm in the front dash, set of 6*9s infinities on the parcel shelf which is stealthed and a sony 10"sub all powered by a bad boy kenwood amp 4 channel!sounds really good i wanted componets but too much hassle!quite easy to wire if u take ur time and get it neat!

Well I dont know a great deal about the headunit. I know that its got 4 x 45w and it has 3 pre-outs.

Imm not going to have any speaker in the back of my car, been told I wont need them, so I need a new parcel shelf, as I bought the car with 6 x 9s in the parcel shelf already.

I want to make my boot install easy enough to take out if I need, but also secure, so if anyone does break in, they will have a trouble taking it away, which will also help me as the sub wont roll all around the boot. Going to build a false floor in front of the sub to seat the amp, if it all goes to plan.

  6/468 17poo

yeah sounds like a good plan!ive got the 6*9s turned right down so they just add a bit of noise!sounds good tho mate ive got a quick release plug thing for the shelf but a criminal probly wouldnt even notice it!

if its got 3 pre outs should be pretty good i would have thought its not silver and blue one is it?
