brake caliper problems

Hi,
i recently took my 182 to brands hatch for a track day and completely boiled my brakes to the point where my disks were smoking and boiled the fluid. I had the problem where my pedal went to the floor coming up to the first corner after the longest straight and had a bit of an excessive speed into a sharp corner shall i say lol anyway i am changing the disks pads and calipers and am struggling on which ones to chose. I am looking at brembo vented disks, EBC yellowstuff pads and the problem i am having is finding a set of calipers as there seems to be so many for the 182 that all look slightly different. Are these worth upgrading from the OEM calipers at the price of around £70, or are these man enough? im not looking to spend £600+ for a set as a track day is more of a now and again thing.

any recommendations to my disks and pads (looked at ds2500) are also welcome but my main problem is finding the calipers and what ones?

Is anything actually wrong with the calipers?
Just good discs and pads and a proper bleed should do it.

both of the bleed nipples are seized and ive tried heating and giving them a knock, let wd40 sink in and no luck and they both eventually snapped and it just seemed like a good idea to replace them as it looks like im going to have to drill them out and tap them etc, so buying a new set looked like a good idea unless theres an easier way?

Beat me to it damnit.

One of the Carbon type pads sold by Kam Racing could also be considered. I'd also use Super DOT 4 brake fluid as a minimum. From Ford Super DOT 4 is cheap, but I have yet to put it into a car.

I have done about 12 track days now and use Brembo HC disc with Carbon Lorraine RC6 pads (just bought a set of DS1.11 to try neddddxt year) and ATE SuperGold fluid with goodridge braided hoses, and I refubished a standard pair of calipers I bought off here and dont have a problem with the setup I am hard on the brakes and they do get hot but stick too 15 min sessions and I havn't boiled the fluid yet and not had any brake fade. @George@RTR_Parts will sort you out, although don't think he sells CL pads hence why I'm trying the DS1.11, only problem I have is with the dust seals keep splitting (poss a dodgy batch from Big Redd) I may rebuild them over winter with new seals from somewhere else.

Thanks guys I was torn between the ideas I've had I was set on Brembo hc disks but I spent nearly 500 quid in the shop and he gave me the disks for virtually nothing which is a bonus! I'm quite new to this forum and by far is it the best for help and advice on all sorts of things, even made me pay for my membership from the help I got as I'm sure it will be worth every penny. I'll have this all set up in about two weeks and I'll see how I get on. I got new ball joints track rod inners and ends and shocks all to go on just to make sure everything feels fresh

mine did the same except I managed to just snap the tip off and ended up getting them out before I painted them, i baked them in the oven to warm them up and the eventually came out lol I also baked them after I had sprayed them to make sure they were nice and warm, My bleed nipples I replaced them with the stainless ones (if you search on here you'll find the link on eBay)

Just a side note.... Have you got any brake cooling?.. removed the fogs etc?.. You will have overheating issues (and excessive wear) on track with any disc and pad you fit unless you improve the cooling to them.

No I haven't yet but I've bought some intake pipes that are going behind the front grill facing the brakes when I get a chance so thanks for that I never thought of the fog lights removal which I'll now consider. I replaced everything today and it stops like it hits a brick wall! Also it turns out one of the caliper sliders was seized which is now sorted so I imagine this would have been putting a lot more stress on the other side as it was clear on pad wear it was major. I also opted in for just getting new calipers instead of messing about with the old ones and they look much nicer as they match my shiny new disks :-D thanks for everyone's input guys it's been a great help I'm sure I'll be back with more questions after my next track day ;-)
