Brake fluid & Camber bolts questions.

Will i gain any benefit from having these on the road or will it make steering skitish??

Will it effect tyre wear??

Any comments?

Changing brake fluid at weekend to Castrol Response, anyone else use this?

ditto to fred. Have read several times (probably from your posts) about how much better braided lines are, but why ? Are the oem ones particularly poor ?
Have bandwagon jumped a certain amount and just ordered some via group buy so shall be fitting them soon at some point and was considering a new / upgraded brake fluid so a few more q's (apols for thread jumping steve btw)

this may be way off but from what i understand....

original flexi hoses are quite pliable and when brake fluid pressure/heat builds up (ie when you are hard on the brakes) it stretches ever so slightly reducing the efficiency of the brakes

braided brake hoses reduce this and therefore increase the efficiency, ie some of the pressure you exert on the pedal is not lost in the 'stretch' of the flexi hoses

correct me if im wrong tho cos i hate having the wrong idea about stuff lol

Thats pretty much it yes. Its mainly a heat issue with track cars.

I would personally stick braided hoses on rather than waste money of the fluid. Stick some goodridge hoses on, its a fairly easy job and they will make a difference. They fill the system with castrol SRF. This is £45 per litre but ive used many others on all types of cars and the SRF is by far the best. AP600 isnt too bad either.

when uprating brakefluids, usually these "race"fluids are also pretty agressive in attracting moist/water and will need changing more. Can ruin your brakes if not looked after regularly

This was explained to me when i had a scooby (known for their s**t brakes btw) and was looking for upgrades

Castrol SRF will not attract any moisture at all.

I used to change mine yearly in the corsa when is stripped the 4 pots down.
SRF in most race cars hardly ever needs bleeding, that speaks volumes in itself

I can't agree more.

I would apply my brakes, braking was very poor. I could feel a bite point but would have to push past this. I could then feel a springy sensation on the pedal, like the brake lines were expanding and bulging out. Still, even pressing harder there was no more braking effort.

That was until I changed my brake lines for S/S Goodridge braided items. Pedal feel came back and then some.

Yes it will. It's still very much hydrocopic, it'll Just absorb moisture slightly more slowly than a 'normal' brake fluid.

You'd be better off buying the much cheaper AP Racing AP600 fluid which, actually has a higher dry boiling point than the SRF stuff. This is still overkill for a car used on the road though.

As for the brake lines, as said above, the chief advantage is that they don't allow as much 'flex' or hose deformation as the stock rubber hoses. This will result in a stiffer and greater peddle feel and more consistant braking at the limit.
You'll notice the difference straight away and they're arguably the first and best braking mod you can do on a road car.

Castrol super dot 4 repsonse is good stuff I always use it superb stuff realy its a good ballance fo cost vs life vs use.

Camber bolt use varies deend son what other bits the car has and how much camper yo decide to set up with. I've drive a stock sertup with 2.5 degrees of negative it ws fune just not ideal for long term use. it does depend son car and uses of the car.
