Brake fluid change

  A slow one :-(
My cup is 4 years old now and therefore needs the brake fluid changing.

However one of my rear brake calipers seized a few months back and I had to have it replaced. From looking at the invoice they may have changed the brake fluid. They put in about 2 litres. Does this sound correct quantity wise?

Just looked and it says 2 * 0.5l  My error.

I was under the impression that brake fluid should be changed every 4 years...

Cheers for the replys though.:approve:

Nope not that difficult if your like me you spill loads trying to get the brakes fully blead. It makes a huge different bleed the brakes in most care and people thing you've stuck better brakes or new pads on.

I'd use dot 4, 5.1 goes hydroscopic over time so not much use apart from a race car when its chnaged ever few weeks.

Both are hydroscopic and it is infact a benefit in a way, DOT5 is the only fluid which is not. Moisture will get into the brake system and DOT5 (silicon based) keeps it seperated.

5.1 is the best fluid for a fast road car imo
