Brake Fluid?

I need some brake fluid.

how much will i need to flush out the old and start with new?

DOT4 or 5.1?

I think a 1 litre bottle does it from memory. They used dot 4, I'm not sure if there's any major advantages of dot 5.1 on the road.

They did say they've changed what they use recently, but I'm pretty sure it was still dot 4. Someone who knows will be along soon lol.

Either is fine, I've got dot 4 for mine.

Dot 4 castrol response, if it's good enough for BMW to use in the M powers and Porsche to use then it's sufficient for a clio.

Just put this in mine, lots better pedal feel.
Gave the renault guys 1.5l & got back 1/2 a bottle(500ml).

Same as I've got, think i remeber someone saying before that 1 litre was enough, if you do it right first time.

anyway, I couldnt find any Castrol Response Super DOT 4... so ordered some for tomorrow

ESP braking systems DO need a specific type of fluid.
Conventional brake fluid will work (have to be mixable with other types of brake fluid by law) but the ESP system will not operate or function to it's full potential if standard fluid is used.

Standard Dot 4 for 1*2's regardless if it has esp , abs etc .... check the cap on your brake fluid reservoir . It says it on there I usually use Castrol response Dot 4 .

Yeh DOT4 1l will be plenty, I bought 2l when I did mine and didn't use the second bottle. And whatever you do DO NOT drain the system just flush it through.

ESP fliud is still DOT 4 or 5 depending on the final application, but it is of a differant viscosity to allow the control systems to pump up/discharge quicker and thus react to the sudden changes that are encountered when ESP is required.

Standard DOT 4 is fine . I think this esp brake fluid is a bit of a gimmick if you ask me . As long as you have good brake fluid in , changed at regular intervals then that will suffice .At the end of the day ESP is only your cars brakes being applied for a split second if your getting out of shape ,the brakes aren't applied any differently than if you were pressing the pedal yourself . Renault recommend DOT 4
