BRAKE ISSUES - NEED UPGRADES - ANY IDEA'S

Car  clio turbo
Hi all

I have a mk2 1.4 rt clio on a s plate and i have just fitted my volvo turbo lump in and got it running..
My main concern is i need some better brakes as i don't think my small front disc's and rear drums are going to stop 170 bhp...

Is there any easy up grade for the front, maybe like fitting 172 disc's and calipers ? would these be a direct fit to my hubs or are they 5 stud ?

Also if i want disc's on the rear would i need to change the whole beam or can i just swap rear hubs...

Any help guys would be great.. :star:

172 discs are 4 stud and, IIRC, simply Laguna discs. Nothing special. You'd need different caliper brackets as they are 280mm, no reason why they wouldn't fit, but you'd need 15" wheels to clear the calipers.

That's all I know.

Assuming they're not from a Laguna RSi, which has 5 studs, then I don't see a problem.

Don't bother with the rear beam swap. For the amount of aggro/cost it is.

Just put willy/valver brakes on it, they are up to the job with braided lines and decent pads and fluid. Agreed with Daniel, no point in swapping the axle

The Willy brakes on the mk2 are poo IMO. Mine faded all the time and the pedal feel was awful. Thats with braided lines but OE pads.
