brake pads - should i let renault do them as part of service?

  Titanium ph1 turbo
Right,

got my cup in for service.. gets a call saying that the bad news is i need both front and rear pads... £170 ...

I told them just to do the service (as the only reason i do it through them anyway is to keep the warranty)...

but am I right in thinking to stuff the pads and fitting from them and let some backstreet garage do it for quarter the price?

Any garage can service your car as long as genuine parts are used and they are VAT registered.
Your not tied to your dealer for anything other than warranty work, you have a choice now as the rules changed over the last few years.

Same applies for brakes etc.

Have a look on the forum as there is a guide on changing front pads, think its in the exterior/power mechanical section.

*faints dead away @ £170 for pads*
Even for the Vee I can get them for £145 for a whole set!
Learn to do them yourself, or get a local garage to do it.

as i said £60 for the parts, £110 for labour!!! pay it if you want!! but i wouldn't!!!

get the bits and take it to a local place and ask how much to fit for ££££ or come to me and i'll do it on the cheap
