Brake pads

Hiya peeps, just a quick question on brake pads.

My MK1 172 needs new brake pads front and back, and i was just wondering if FAST ROAD pads are any good and if they are worth the extra money over normal pads as my brake discs are the OE renault jobbies.

Also if they are any good, could you name me a few and what,s the price of them, TA very much.

Yes, fast road pads are better than standard OE pads...

Ones to go for are:-

Mintex M1144s
Ferrodo DS2000s
Pagids

  Skoda Fabia vRS

id go for the K-Tec Kevlar pads, there not much more than standard, might be even cheaper, and there good

Hi Butch,

i have a set of TAROX G88s (40 groove discs) with Ferrodo DS2000s. The Discs are spot on, tho for £180 i should think so. As for the pads, im in 2 minds. These pads do exactly what they say on the tin "FAST ROAD PADS" meaning breaking from 110mph --> 70mph these babbies will stop you dead. try breaking from low speeds like 50 mph and below and they seem crap. This is prob becuase they only perform under hot temps ( hard braking ) factory pads will stop you quicker from lower speeds.

i didnt know this when i bought them - they are really designed for the track. One good thing about Ferrodo DS2000s is they produce little brake dust. i have heard stories they have brought out a new product that heat up quicker then 2000s aimed between factory OEM pads and DS2000 (best of both worlds) id find out the product name and get these instead m8.

hope this helps

James.
