Brake Problems

  Broken Diesel Megane :(
Right just wanted to know if anyone else has this problem?

Car is a 02 172 cup, lowered 40mm on coilovers.

I didnt think much of the braking as without it having any sort of aids to help i was expecting it to be ding, but the brakes are shocking.

Front discs have been uprated to grooved ones and am thinking of getting mintex pads. Any good?

Anyway a mate told me that most cars have a sensor that distributes braking force between front and back depending on weight. (ie more weight at front more stopping power at front)

But he said that if your car is lowered then it fools the sensor into thinking there is more weight at back (cause car is lower) so sends more power to back.

He also said that these sensors can become 'seized' and that is maybe why the brakes dont seem as good as they should.

Just wondering if anyone else has this problem or heard of this sensor?

Cheers

The cup doesn't have a weight sensor for the rear brakes, it's preset at the factory and you can't change it! i know cos i think my cup brakes are pants too and i've been trying to sort them for about 2 months now. all you can do really is uprate the discs and pads all round, grooved is good (got some red dot on my 205) or get a bias valve to replace the preset one. hope this helps

yes the braking effort you are on about is being transfered to the rear....

Unsure of this, me and a mate have a cup, his is lowered, with no problem with the brakes.

I know to get it through my MOT the first time i had to have a few blokes in the back for increased braking effort on the rears, but the power isnt transfered from the front i was led to believe, and anyway its only 30% max on the rears anyhow IIRC..
