not on a track day, you can fade them fairly easily if you are working the car hard...

the lines help a lot with brake feel
the pads make a massive difference.
the Brembo disks are better than OE ones IMO... less expensive as well

Andy I know about brakes/Fade etc the question was aimed at the thread starter not at all the sales people on here, if he's not happy with the standard setup then fair enough.

pete my answer was not sales based.

just my views on the bits

Fair enough, my apologies, it's just getting annoying seeing most threads about brakes these days turning into people trying to sell stuff.

Good idea, nice components. You could maybe source them for less but its down to you to do the leg work.

AVOID imho! the pads do the job but they squeak like miss piggy in a mincer.
And the brake dust! jesus! If you get PF97 pads buy some sh*t wheels you dont mind wrecking. Plus "from cold" performance is sometimes alarming.

Ring round a few people as the mark ups on lines and pads vary, there may be a local firm that can make up the lines for you. Try people like ECP and GSF etc... for discs i found that i could source front discs from my local GSF for £27 a pair. They do pads too.

Let us know how you get on mate, i've been curious of how the Tarox kit performs. I'm currently running ds2500 and they are good imo.

hahahaha nice

Maybe just grab yourself a set of DS2500's from demon tweeks and see how you go.

how much do these cost as i hace had email off someone 80 quid deliverd . good or bad

^^^

The closest I got was 85 plus delivery AFAIR, so bite his/her hand off.

DS2500 are excellent pads (personally, I went for all four corners, for that little bit extra).

Run them for a bit, then change the discs if need-be (they will wear-out quicker with the DS2500 pads) (get the Grp N brembos from GSF).

Lines do make a bit of a difference - braking at higher pedal pressre is more progressive IMO.

Some people on here have bought DS2500 for much less than £80 - but that's for other Clio models (just in case it comes up later in this thread).

And the brake dust! jesus! Also found this, the brake dust is unbelievable, I am washing the 182 wheels every week and still it takes 2 hours with wonderwheels just to clean the front two, they are a nightmare! If you get PF97 pads buy some sh*t wheels you dont mind wrecking. Plus "from cold" performance is sometimes alarming. Have had no problems from cold and these brakes have amazing stopping power, truly a force to be reckoned with, as long as you don't mind washing your wheels for 2 hours every week.

The dust issue is to do with the Brembo discs IMO.

Both EVOgone and I have noticed huge amounts of dust since changing discs to the Brembos (hi-carbon anything to do with it?).

Still, the car stops - and that's what matters (DS2500 actually work when cold, hence I went for them).

But do invest in a nice alloy brush... and some Autoglym motorcycle cleaner (works a treat on alloys).

Dave, Tom, you won't get them cheaper than us
sorry, wasn't even mentioning price, just the amazing stopping power vs. brake dust, if you want ultimate stopping power then these are the job, the track kit that is, prices don't bother me, just interested in kit.

its the pads that give off the dust

PF97's give off HUGE amounts of dust (i swear its radioactive)

DS2500's aren't much better, but at least its easy to clean off (unlike the 97's, but Fairy power spray works!!)

i use the comma alloy wheel cleaner and then for any stubborn bits a credit card to give a bit more friction, wheels come up as good as new with a bit of work but never leave them more than 2 weeks as i found out the hard way leaving them for 3!

think i will try out some of that mister muscle . only joking cheers feelas thanks for the info

i can get some wheel cleaner from where i work 10litre drum it hurts like hell when you get it on your hands . nasty asid stuff but it's goddame good . from mr autoglym guy in the big van
