Brakes seemed to fail.........

  Clio 182 Trophy. No. 189
...........very briefly - afterwards had a grinding noise and now all ok again.

Any ideas what this could be? Has only happened once, no warning lights or anything.

Water on the pads/discs then - gets between them, in the same way as when a car aquaplanes due to water getting between tyres and the road.

It soon burns off or gets squeezed off by the pads, it's just the initial brown trouser moment you had while it did it! lol

That's why you sometimes see "Try your brakes" signs after fords - so you get rid of the water in a safe place rather than just before the next corner or the junction you need to actually stop at and not sail across lol

Was very odd - i parked the car at work, got back some 3 hours later and had the short period of grinding (almost like when pads have worn right down) and then it went and ok again.

Bro seemed to think it may be related to ABS?

Thanks for your reply.

Had my 48k service and it requires new rear discs and pads.

What is the cheapest option for me?

Thanks
